How things are looking right now:

Awesome mix of color viewed from my garage.

Need I say any more about Panicum ‘Northwind’?

panicum northwind

While it is still too early to draw a conclusion, I have loved year 1 of my Pennisetum ‘Desert Plains’.

Molinia ‘Sky Racer’ has been phenomenal yet again this year, now I need to surround her with some decent companions.

Ninebark ‘Diablo’ leaf color is way cool looking right now.

As is Ninebark ‘Amber Jubilee’.

Year 2 of Fothergilla ‘Mt Airy’ hasn’t disappointed and I’m thrilled with how well it is holding its leaves to date.

Geraniums (this is ‘Brookside’) are way underrated in terms of their autumn color.

I rescued this Bergenia ‘Rosi Klose’ from a nursery late last Fall and while it has been a bit slow to establish, I am digging the color right now. Fingers crossed.

Baptisia seeds are finally visible. Now to research the best means to save these and make them viable.

All of my recently planted Hyacinth are emerging with the warm weather of late but that is coming to a drastic halt this weekend.

Thanks for stopping by.

That is quite a gorgeous view you have from your garage…so gratifying to see the fruits of one’s own efforts, isn’t it?
Oh, by the way, thanks to your post rhapsodizing about alliums, I followed through on my good intentions and ordered some. They arrived the other day and got planted this morning. I can’t wait until spring!

Michaele – I love that you jumped on the Allium bandwagon with me! We’ll definitely need to compare in the Spring.

Fantastic color in the view from your garage! Wow–that’s crazy that the Hyacinths are growing so much. Will they recede and grow again in the spring or just pause? I’m so far north, so that doesn’t happen to me. This is a great post to show the beautiful foliage beyond Maples, Birches, Oaks, and other colorful trees. Enjoy the view!

Beth – As of today, there are at least 20 hyacinths showing foliage. I’m hoping they “recede” and survive OK. Ahhhh. And that wonderful color is quickly disappearing.

Lovely to see your varied grasses looking so good . They really come into their own at this time of year. Love your Molinea and the Panicum looks spectacular.

Jane – thank god for the grasses or I would be a mess!

    Hi John,

Where can you get Molinia?. A nearby garden once had Molinia Transparent and I have been looking for one ever since. It forms a cloud of swaying inflorescensces. Spectacular.

Nancy – I bought my Molinia at Digging Dog Nursery online and have been pleased to date.
