The Obsessive Neurotic Gardener

This was the quintessential autumn weekend.

With the autumn foliage at it’s peak, we headed down to the Delaware River and “attempted” to take the kids photos for this year’s Christmas cards. They could have cared less and protested most of the way, but we got a few nice shots we can work with.

I also managed to take a few non kid photos:

With the cooler weather and some actual rain, the lawn actually looks presentable:

We had a nice relaxing Sunday morning with nowhere to go (woo hoo), and that meant time for large consumption of coffee (and yes I do drink it black):

The house was all decked out for Halloween:

My son  and I played a heated game of indoor basketball (I kicked his ass of course)

My incredibly creative daughter was “playing” as only she can:

Even Casey was relaxed and enjoying the casualness of the day:

It was autumn perfection … and then my wife called downstairs, “Hey John, funny little thing happened, I ran out of water completely while in the shower.” SON OF A %$&^!!!

And with that, everything changed. I ran down to the basement in a panic, hoping that just maybe, there was a simple explanation. Not a chance.

I am still covered in salt residue, smell like death and the kids are on a no poop alert. The well company is  coming early in the morning and hopefully there will be a simple and cheap explanation for it.

We’ll see.

Black coffee, fall color, and Halloween decor few do better than in the mid-Atlantic region…and the Yankees lose…wow!

What a reality shock with the well. I bet a George Steinbrenner relative is behind the cause, somehow…

Oh, the joys of home ownership. The picture of your son and daughter is adorable, though, and I’m glad you had at least a partially nice day. Hopefully there will be a simple, inexpensive fix to the water situation. Do keep us posted!

I also drink my coffee black. Delicious. Puts hair on your chest!

Hm. Was that too much information about me?

No poop alert lol. After we had those flooding rains down here a few weeks ago, our toilets stopped flushing because our backyard was so waterlogged. Ah, country living!

Of course you drink coffee black. Anyone that puts cow-juice in it needs to be taught the error of their ways.

Hope the water situation doesn’t clear you out.

Is there anything more relaxing than watching a dog sleep. Coffee, fall pics, smiling kids… great stuff. Running out of water… NOT. HUgs. Tammy

As nice as your fall images are, I’ll take the kids picture any day instead. My grand-kids live out of town and seeing your children lit up my computer screen.
I too drink my coffee black. That way I can enjoy the real taste of good coffee, on the rare occasion that it is served. However, some of us coffee lovers insist that it has to be made in a percolator and not in a coffee machine.

Oh you reminded me about coffee. I going to need one soon 😉 That’s a lovely photo (first pix)! I also like the photo with the reflection in the lake. Happy halloween.

I shouldn’t be giggling at your misfortune but I love your writing style. Hope it turns out to be a nice, simple repair.
