The Obsessive Neurotic Gardener

Funny thing happened the other day. I started taking photographs of some newly developing blooms:

And while they were interesting and a nice jolt at this point in the summer, I soon found myself taking photos of other parts of the garden. I think it was inspiration from my recent visit to the New York Botanical Gardens and the “foliage lushness” of their perennial gardens.
My grasses, perennials and deciduous shrubs are nearing their peak, foliage-wise, and their contrasting colors and textures are meshing well. Throw in some blooms here and there and I realize that this may be my favorite time of the year out in the garden:

How you feeling about your gardens these days?

It’s so hot/dry here and there is so much wood to be chopped in the middle of the lawn that you really don’t want to know. :

I do live with a nice garden by watching yours, though. 🙂

It seems that I know all the plants here. Greetings from China, have a nice day!

just love the grasses in your garden. here with excessive heat and drought, we’re about to lose trees. no gardens or flowers at all.

Wow, you must live where it’s much cooler or at least rainier. Here, we haven’t had rain in 2 months, all grass is dry and the color of straw, and the garden is hanging on only because of daily watering. I wished for this hot weather though, because I prefer summer over winter. But even I am feeling it now. 2 months with no rain and day after day of sunshine and temps in the 90s wears on you after a while.

So… my garden looks somewhat good, but mostly is looking tired and weary and ready to be done for the season, except for the late summer flowers and vegetables which are going strong.

Your garden provide me a refreshing and relaxing feeling. It’s been raining in my country and at the same time, the pile of work in my office just escalates. We don’t have gardens here in the city and I could say that it would help me a lot to see one!

These are some fabulous photos. I love all the lushness of this time of year, although because I have this self-proclaimed malady called “spacial denial” all my plants are too close together which means I’m constantly trimming and clipping and deadheading. Good thing I’ve got my trusty pruners.

These are wonderful shots and everything looks so lush. I love the contrasts, the different foliage, it all makes a lovely garden.

Well considering I won’t be able to tend to it for a long while, I think it will do just fine!
Yours is beautiful! Love Di ♥

I love your garden…it’s just about at its zenith right now…all the grasses are stupendous! Is the red-tinted one ‘Shanandoah’? Love that one…so great…I saw a new introduction for sale this weekend ‘Blood Brothers’, it seemed stockier (growth habit supposedly identical to ‘Heavy Metal’) and the red coloring was really great!

Wow! Your garden is so beautiful. I am very sad about what was my little patch of flowers- my landlord made me chop them down. So, I have a really ugly patch of stumps now.
